We partner with Maggie’s Organics for our sock styles. Why? Because we love their socks and we love their transparent approach to manufacturing. After searching far and wide for a company who still knits socks in the U.S. (almost all sock production went overseas in the 1990s with NAFTA), we found Maggie’s – a pioneer in the organic space. Maggie’s organic cotton is grown in Tanzania in partnership with the bioRe Foundation and ginned nearby. The fiber is spun in Tanzania at Sunflag, which is SA-8000, OEKO-TEX and Global Organic Textile Standard certified. Then, the yarn is shipped to North Carolina, where all of the socks are knit by independent family knitters. The socks are dyed and finished in North Carolina using low-impact dyes. We’ve started by offering two classic adult styles, but stay tuned – more sizes are coming soon, including kids socks!
